Emmaus Community

Who We Are

Emmaus Community is an Intentional Eucharistic Community consisting of diverse committed individuals in the Catholic tradition. We are united in liturgical celebration and bound together in God’s love. The community’s mission is to support its members, provide opportunities for spiritual growth and promote justice and peace.
Emmaus was founded in 1972 by men and women inspired by Vatican II. We were formed as a non-territorial parish within the Diocese of Bridgeport, CT and are currently a community in Stamford, CT.
We are committed to a vision of church that is egalitarian and welcoming to all. We share the gospel through discussion of each week’s scripture at Mass. Our celebrants have been primarily Jesuits, Redemptorists, and Vincentians from universities and other institutions in the CT and NY area. Currently four priests rotate, presiding at our liturgies.
