Emmaus Community
Structure
Guiding Council
The Guiding Council is made of the co-chairs, the treasurer, the secretary, the chairs of each committee and the chairs of each working group. They are held monthly.
Community Meetings
About twice a year the entire community gathers to discuss and decide on issues which affect the whole group.
Committees
There are several ongoing and ad hoc committees which are important to the functioning of the Community. Some of these are the Liturgy Committee, the Social Committee, the Web Site Committee and the Archives Committee.
Working Groups
Spiritual Growth Group
- plans ways to enhance our spiritual growth as individuals and as a Community
- designs ways to help us deepen our connection to each other which might include: retreats, meditations, prayer vigils, emailing highlights of the liturgy to members and enhanced Prayers of the Faithful, prayer groups
Outreach Group
- works to increase the visibility of Emmaus with other faith communities, by performing joint projects, holding common prayer services,
- reaches out to potential members including alienated Catholics
- works with the Social Concerns Group on collaborative projects with other faith and community groups
Social Concerns Group
- chooses projects Emmaus members can participate in as a group
- supports projects of interest to our members
- raises the Community awareness on peace, justice, and environmental issues
- works with the Liasion Group to facilitate participation in St. Cecilia's projects
